Reference numberLH000428DescriptionInterior of the Fremantle Free Lending Library. Became known as the Evan Davies Civic Library in January 1956. The building was originally the Fremantle Literary Institute and was opened on Wednesday 15th March 1899 by Elias Solomon. Architect Messrs Wilkinson, Smith and Wilson. The library moved to the ground floor of the Civic Administration Building on the corner of Newman and Willam Streets on 18.03.1974 and was renamed the Fremantle City Library.
