Reference numberLH000449DescriptionSir Frank Gibson was born in Egerton, Victoria, 17.07.1879 and educated at Grenville College and Ballarat School of Mines. Came to WA in 1902 and first went to Cue on the Murchison goldfields and then to Leonora where he was councillor for some time before being elected mayor in 1912. In 1914 he moved to Fremantle where he opened a business as a pharmaceutical chemist. Mayor of Fremantle 1919-1923, 1927-1951. March 1921, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Fremantle (one three year term). 1942, Member of the Legislative Council for the Metropolitan Suburban Province. !948 made Knight Bachelor and died 31.12.1965.
