Reference numberLH000493ADescription1905-1906 The ""Decoy"" was not closely associated with Fremantle, more Applecross, Canning Bridge. Built in Melbourne and purchased in 1905 for 2,300 pounds by a group interested in Applecross Hotel. Claimed to be the fore runner of show boats on Sydney Harbour. The flickering images that passed for a cinematograph show were featured on board. The story that the faster ""Westralian"", upon overtaking the ""Decoy"" played such denigrating melodies as ""We shall meet in the sweet bye and bye"" is possibly true, on the same basis as present day rivalry in Rottnest traffic. The arrival of the ""Zephyr"" in 1906 proved just too much - the ""Decoy"" was towed to South Australia. Source: Mr S. Jones.
