Born 22.12.1839, Leyburn Manor House, Yorkshire. Arrived in W.A. in 1862. 1864-1892, Headmaster Fremantle Boys' School. 1874-1883, Town Clerk Fremantle Town Council. 1883-1904, Town Clerk Fremantle Municipal Council. Deacon of Congregational Chapel, instrumental in building Johnston Memorial Church (no longer in existence). (According to Mr S. Jones, Mr Humble was a dedicated Weslyan, and his association with the Congregational Denomination was due to the temporary absence (20 years) of Methodism in Fremantle.) Credit is also given to Mr Humble for founding the Fremantle Benefit Building Investment Society (Fremantle Building Society).
