About 12 men were employed on its construction (which commenced 15.12.1936) for over a year.The gross tonnage was 250, net tonnage 180; length 110 feet, beam 26 feet 8 inches. The hull cost 7000 pounds. Edward Howson came out of retirement to oversee the construction. The launch was difficult and had to be assisted by the fire brigade.
