Typical attached pair of cottages dating from the early twentieth century. Historically significant as a representation of working people’s living conditions in the Fremantle area. ArchaeologyConditionHistoryAgnes St was gazetted in 1906. The original lot number was 6 of 36.Two cottages, nos. 6 and 8 Agnes St were built on Lot 6 by W. H Jones in 1901/02. They were constructed of limestone with brick quoins, timber rear sections which incorporated bathrooms. Both cottages were sewered in July 1913. The original houses were numbered 26 & 28, and changed to 6 & 8 in 1935/36. This place was identified by the Fremantle Society in 1979/80 as being of cultural heritage significance. (Coded: Red: "Significantly contributing to the unique character of Fremantle") Physical DescriptionSingle storey tuck pointed stone and tuck pointed brick quoining and a zincalume hipped roof duplex. There is rendered dividing wall and a bull nosed verandah supported by timber collared posts. No 8 has two brick chimneys with corbelling and additions at the rear. There are timber double hung sash windows and timber panelled doors and sidelights and fanlights.
