AddressSardelic Park 30 Butterworth Place BEACONSFIELD WA 6162SummaryPARK NAME : Named for father and son, Antun Sardelic (Senior 1901–1969) and (Junior 1921–2008) who were early settlers in the district and active market gardeners in Mather Road, Beaconsfield. Antun Sardelic, Snr, born 10.01.1901 came to Western Australia in 1926 and settled in Boulder to work in the mines. In 1941 he moved to South Fremantle to set up a 10 acre market garden which he worked until his retirement in 1956. His sons, Antun Jnr and Ivan Sardelic and their respective families, took over the market garden in 1956 working it for another two years. Antun Snr then sold 6 acres to C.I.L. Woolsheds and divided the remaining 4 acres between his two sons. In 1962 both Sardelic families built their homes in Mather Road, Hamilton Hill. The market gardens were worked by the Sardelic families for a total of 49 years before being sold to developers in 2006. Antun Snr died in June 1969 aged 68. Antun Jnr, born 19.12.1921, arrived to join his father in Boulder in 1937 aged 15, where he attended school. His father then sent him to Perth where he worked in market gardens in Osborne Park. Antun Jnr met his wife Dinka in 1942, they went to work in Manjimup on his father-in-law's tobacco farm and timber mill. In 1948, Antun Jnr, Dinka and their two children, John and Desenka went to Yugoslavia for four years, moving back to Fremantle in 1956. Antun Jnr died 26.07.2008.
