Has undergone significant alterations but original form remains intact.ArchaeologyConditionHistoryHampton Road was originally called Prison Road. It derives its name from John Stephen Hampton (1810-1869), the Governor of WA from 1862-68. He was previously Comptroller of Convicts in Tasmania. His son, G. E. Hampton, was Acting Comptroller-General of the Fremantle Convict Establishment. Rate books record a cottage on this lot in 1910. This place was included on the list of heritage places in the City of Fremantle identified by the Fremantle Society in 1979/80. Physical DescriptionSingle storey tuck pointed stone and tuck pointed brick quoined residence. The terracotta tile hipped and hipped gable roof extends onto the verandah which is supported by rendered pillars and low wall balustrade which are not original. Rendered steps rise from the pavement to the front entrance.
