Typical single storey stone cottage dating from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. Historically significant as a representation of working people’s living conditions in the Fremantle area. Has undergone significant alterations but original form remains intact.ArchaeologyConditionHistoryLefroy Road forms the northern boundary of the Lefroy Estate, which extended as far south at Lloyd Street. H Maxwell Lefroy was Comptroller (Superintendent) of the Fremantle Prison from 1859-1876. The portion of the street between South Terrace and Attfield Street was previously called Trinity Street (1908/09), then Sinclair St (1909/10). Residence 188 is recorded on lot 6 of 36 of 7 in 1930. Physical inspection indicates that the house was built prior to this date. The following places form a significant group and contribute to the streetscape of Lefroy Road; 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 35, 36, 38, 40, 47, 51, 53, 55 and the Norfolk Pines. Physical DescriptionSingle storey stone with brick quoining and zincalume hipped and gable (with timber tongue and groove lining and finial) roofed house. The dropped verandah is supported by timber posts and brackets.
