In 1914 the rate books changed the description of the place from ‘cottage’ to ‘shed’ and from the following year the site was rated as vacant. Plans were approved for a new house for the site in 1950, to be built by owner Thomas Michael Donovan. The house was to be a timber-framed dwelling and was estimated to cost £700. It appears the residence took some time to be completed, as it is not noted in rate books until 1955, although a septic tank was installed already in 1952. A patio and bathroom extension to the rear of the house was approved for the owner in 1979. The 1950 plans for the place show that it has had few external changes since its construction. The house was built as a four-room cottage with a central passage between two front rooms leading to rear bedroom, kitchen, and inside bathroom. A laundry was at the end of the back verandah.
