Typical single storey stone cottage dating from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. Historically significant as a representation of working people’s living conditions in the Fremantle area. Has undergone significant alterations but original form remains intact. HistoryMcCleery Street was named after John McCleery, a Fremantle merchant and auctioneer from 1879 to 1889. He died in 1911. Duplex 11/1-11c McCleery Street: A cottage is recorded on Lot 11B of 31 of 7 in 1900. The owner/occupier was Walter Sweetman. In 1991 there was a Strata conversion. Plans are on file for Unit 1 which was completed and for Unit 2 of the existing structure and proposed additions in 1991. Physical DescriptionDuplex 11/1-11c McCleery Street is a single storey stone and rendered quoining zincalume hipped roof duplex (possibly originally single residence). There are two rendered chimneys with corbelling and a dropped verandah supported by the dividing wall and timber posts.
