The place has aesthetic value for its contribution to the streetscape and the surrounding area. The house exhibits characteristic features of the Inter-War Bungalow style. These elements contribute to the historical streetscape and the broader residential character of Fremantle. This bungalow reflects the suburban expansion of Fremantle, when economic growth and advances in transportation facilitated the development of modest worker and middle-class housing. There is a rates summary on file showing ownership from 1939-40 as a vacant lot belonging to Robert Dixon Allen.Physical DescriptionHouse, 144 Solomon Street is a single storey brick and tile house designed in the Inter-War Californian Bungalow style of architecture. The walls are face brick to dado height and rendered above. The roof is hipped and gabled and clad with tiles and has exposed rafters. The main door is under an arched rendered entry. There is a red face brick half wall balustrade. There are timber framed windows under the verandah roof, and another set to the other side with a tiled awning supported by timber brackets. There is a low face brick and steel picket wall to the front boundary line.
