The Metropolis Night Club was originally the Dalkeith Opera House designed by architect F.W. Burwell for James Gallop in 1904. It later became Kings Theatre which closed in the early 1920s. More recently from 1970s the building has been used for night clubs. The Sail and Anchor Hotel was originally the Freemasons Hotel, also designed by F W Burwell for James Gallop in 1903.
