Reference numberLH000503GDescriptionWork nearly completed in one of the rooms, now Gallery in Arts Centre. Many floors had been painted in a thick grey paint during the war so they could be hosed out to combat the flea problem. The paint had been used to coat submarines by the Americans and was probably a type of epoxy as it could be chipped off in slabs with a bolster. High levels of D.D.T. were still present in some sections during restoration.Date1970Photograph FormatPhotographDigital ItemYes
