Reference numberLH000550ADescriptionMail steamers berthed at Victoria Quay near Cliff Street. A and B sheds are very small (about 100 ft by 30 ft) and served the north west and south coast trade. Until 1924 this section of Victoria Quay was at road level, ie without a ramp. Note "coaling jobs" ie hulks alongside ships, also the Swan River Shipping Company lighters. This company ceased in 1938 due to use of motor lorries. Perth cargo - Orient mail steamer (4masts, 2 funnels) has black funnels, later yellow. Ship astern P and O was probably interstater Riverina.
