The baths were completed in January 1907 (at a cost of 3526 pounds) and opened by Michael Samson. The gentlemens baths comprised one and a half acres with three quarteres of an acre for the ladies section. Private baths with hot and cold, salt and fresh water were available for 9 pence per bath or 7 shillings and 6 pence per dozen tickets.
