Reference numberLH000780DescriptionFishing Boat Harbour was built in 1922 with stone from Rocky Bay and proclaimed as a Harbour on 30.07.1924. In 1944 a 200 foot mole was built out at the foot of Grey Street to combat erosion. In 1949 a spur extension was added to the northern side of the breakwater. The Esplanade, reclaimed from the shallow shore in 1902/1903, was planted with Norfolk Island Pines in 1908 at the suggestion of Councillor Frank Nicholas.Date1960Photograph FormatPhotographDigital ItemYes
