Reference numberLH000793CDescriptionThe Marmion Memorial was unveiled on 9.01.1902 on the reserve known as "Mayor's Park". It was erected by public subscription to the memory of W.E. Marmion (1846-1896). Marmion was a member for North Ward in the first Town Council of 1871 and later Chairman in 1874. He was Member of the Legislative Council 1872-1890 and the Legislative Assembly 1890-1896. In 1890 he was appointed Commissioner of Crown Lands.
