On the right front is the Pellews Building, built in January 1906 on lots part 328, 329 and 329A after the demolition in 1905 of J H Pellew's earlier buildings. Herbert Henry Oxbrow purchased the business in 1905 on the death of Pellew. The National Hotel (1902) is further back, towards the centre. On the left are Manning Chambers, 7-9 William Street, built in 1906 by Abbott and Rennie. The Fremantle Mall was first closed off on a trial basis 10.12.1973 and permanently closed in January 1976.
