Kate Florence Field came out from England on the Pericles with her parents, Mr and Mrs F Field and two teenage sisters (F B and E Field). The Pericles sank off Leeuwin in 1910. After they were rescued by the Monaro, the family spent five weeks in Fremantle before returning to England on the Militiades. Within two years they returned to Fremantle to stake a claim in the salvage operations on the wreck of the Pericles. After this they set up a small shop. The Reverend Beasley was a ship's butcher prior to becoming a Methodist Minister in 1925.
