John, James, Charlie, Norman and Cleave were the children of John and Agnes (nee Robertson) Doig who emigrated from Scotland to South Australia in 1879. John: born in Scotland; played for East Fremantle 1898-1912; married Mary Miller; killed World War I. Charlie: played 1903-1914; married Bella Miller. James: played 1898-1911; Captain 1910-1911; married Maggie Miller. Norman: had a hearing problem; played 1906-; married Elizabeth Drabble. Charlie Doig and Mr Horn were employees of A D Kopp, long established in Fremantle as a jeweller and watchmaker.
