Reference numberLH001883DescriptionThe notice proclaims the road is closed but the Commercial Hotel is still open. W.J. Beisley (hairdresser and tobacconist) is situated on Lot 424 at left. Originally this building was the home of Mr W.S. Pearse, later it was converted into shops. These were demolished in 1907 to make way for Central Chambers. Mr Beisley later moved to the Higham Buildings on the corner of High and Market Streets. Next door is the Manchester Dye Works and M. and F.
