Reference numberLH002456DescriptionThe Anglo Persian (later Iranian) Oil Company was established in 1920/1921 in Knutsford Street to provide oil to the ships. A pipelinewas laid along Victoria Quay and eight branches led out to the wharf edge from where they were connected to each ship. Later a second and then a third line was installed. There was usually a bunkering crew of ten on the wharf to make the connections.
