Reference numberLH002782DescriptionOn 14 September 1934 22 trees (Norfolk Island pines and eucalypts) a donation from the City of Fremantle City Council were planted in the new playground of the school. The trees were dedicated to the memory of pioneers of the state and 60 children were associated with each dedication. The trees were re-dedicated each year and on 3 June 1936 (the date of this photograph) iron plaques naming the pioneers were unveiled. On 8 July 1938 22 peppermint trees were added to the playground opposite the school. These trees were dedicated to famous Australians.
