The contract for this building was let on 3.11.1897 to J Carlson for 1255 pounds, one shilling and four pence. It was completed in March 1898 and closed 23.04.1969. In the centre is St Paul's Church of England, designed by architect J H Eales and built by the Hooley Brothers. The foundation stone was laid by Admiral Sir Frederick Bedford, 23.08.1905 and it was consecrated by Bishop Riley on 13.01.1906.
