The Play Group, for four year olds, was part of the kindergarten at 63 George Street, East Fremantle which was named after a long serving East Fremantle Councillor. James P McKenzie was a ganger when he joined the East Fremantle Council in the late 1940s. He unsuccessfully ran for Mayor in 1964 and retired in 1972 after 25 years as a Councillor.
