Reference numberLH005263DescriptionPietro Porcelli was a leading sculptor in Fremantle and Perth in the first years of the twentieth century. He was born in 1872 near Bari in Italy but spent most of his working life in Fremantle. Among his many sculptures were monuments to WE Marmion, Alexander Forrest and Maitland Brown and the CY O'Connor bust as well as many War Memorials including Fremantle. Local sculptor Greg James was commissioned by the Italian community to create a bronze memorial to Porcelli.
