Reference numberLH005317DescriptionSculptor Tony Jones was commissioned to create this work which celebrates Fremantle Port's history of trade and immigration. Adjacent to the E Shed Markets, the sculpture, named Southern Crossing, incorporates a gang way with the names of ships associated with the port, a migrant and a dingo. The dingo symbolises indigenous Australia but also the large painted sign on the Dingo Flour Mill which was one of the first images seen by many migrants on their arrival.Date2007PhotographerBauer, AlisonPhotograph FormatPhotographDigital ItemYes
