The centre was officially opened on 4th February 1987 and catered for a wide range of cross-cultural childcare needs. In 1989 children (infancy to 6 years) were attending the centre from countries such as Chile, Germany, Portugal, France, Ireland, Thailand, Ghana and El Salvador.
