This plaque is associated with the 2nd ship named HMAS ADELAIDE which was a long-range escort frigate of the Royal Australian Navy. The ship was commissioned in 1980 and was in service until 2008.
The HMAS Adelaide was then scuttled as a dive wreck off Avoca on the NSW coast.
The third HMAS ADELAIDE was commissioned in 2015Relevance to the CityDuring her service HMAS ADELAIDE served during the East Timor operations and also in the Persian Gulf. She also spent much time in Australian waters, including off WA and Fremantle.
