Named afterSir Archibald Paull Burt, b. 1810 St Christopher (St Kitts) in theWest Indies. In 1860 he was appointed civil commissioner and chairman of Quarter Sessions in Western Australia, took up his duties in Perth on 29 January 1861. On 18 June he was appointed chief justice of the newly created Supreme Court of Western Australia. Died 1879.
