Named afterCharles Thomas Comben (1889-1918) was born in Yarraville, Victoria and moved to Fremantle with his family at an early age. He attended Beaconsfield State School and later worked with Fremantle Harbour Trust. He served in WWI and was an original member of the 44th Battalion (Infantry) which formed at the Claremont Showground. Charles Comben was killed in action on 4th July 1918, aged 29 years, during the successful Australian attack which liberated the French village of Le Hamel and is buried at the Villers-Bretonneux Australian National Memorial, France.DescriptionApproved by the Geographic Names Committee on 09/02/2009
