Named afterNamed after Abraham Moise Josephson. A Polish Russian emigrant, convicted of forgery in England in 1863 and transported to WA on the Lord Dalhousie. A jeweller in London, much of Josephson's Australian business was in drapery, pearls and property in Perth and Fremantle, including the Park Hotel (cnr Parry and Ellen Sts) and a row of three-storey houses in the street that was later named after him. In the very early days he kept a shop where the National Hotel now stands, his place of business was in Cliff Street. He was involved in the building of the synagogue.
