Named afterExplorer, Sir W. Edward Parry, born in Bath, England 19/12/1790. Entered the navy in 1803, served aboard the 'Arctic Ocean' during the Napoleonic Wars. In 1821 was elected a fellow of the Royal Society; received a knighthood in April 1829. Arrived Sydney in December, 1829 as a religious man he started schools for children, also performed baptisims. Returned to England in 1834. He died on July 7, 1855 and is buried in Greenwich. [W.A. 17/12/1981]DescriptionShown on plan of Fremantle which was drawn in 1833, with additions in 1834.
