Named afterShort Street does not appear as such until the survey of 1844. Bishop Augustus Short, first Bishop of Adelaide (1847) came over to conscecrate St John's Church in 1884, it was, doubtless named in his honour. There was no resident bishop in WA.DescriptionThe church was opened for worship on 4th August 1843, but not consecrated until 16th November 1848. It was demolished In 1882 to allow an extension of High Street eastwards.
