AuthorBurke, ShaneDescriptionThe University of Notre Dame commissioned Shane Burke to undertake archaeological excavations at the site of the University's proposed Teacher Education Building on Lot 44 at the north east corner of Cliff and croje Street Fremantle. It was the site of the Pier Hotel. The excavations exposed structural remains and collected many historical peiod artefacts - mostly glass containers, building materials, heavily corroded metal objects and crockery - the earliest dating from the late 1830s or early 1840s.
