CouncilDescriptionThis report describes the results of an historical archaeological survey of Arthur Head and an analysis of over 300 photographs, maps and plans undertaken in order to identify as far as possible all the buildings and works ever constructed on the Arthur Head promontory. Includes a study of the Gazetteer of buildings and facilities associated with the history of Arthur Head and demonstrates the degree to which the area of the proposed reserve has been subjected to demolition, function changes and modification of the land surface. Since 1829 at least 15 buildings together with their sites have been removed totally by quarrying.
