Report on the establishment of an Administrative and Training Centre for the Fremantle Football Club (second AFL Team) at the Fremantle Oval

CouncilDescriptionThe proposal to establish a second Australian Football League team in Western Australia was first mooted in a report entitled "WA Football 2000" published by the West Australian Football Commission in January 1992. The City of Fremantle resolved to strongly support this recommendation to base a second AFL team at the Fremantle Oval. This report addresses several issues arising from that: an evaluation of the loan proposal included in the draft Heads of Agreement between the West Australian Football Commission, the City of Fremantle and the South Fremantle Football Club; an assessment of the suggested leasing arrangements proposed; and reports on the planning issues raised by the location of the club operations within the grounds of the Fremantle Oval. This assessment encompasses zoning, traffic and parking, a statement of significance and the planning processes that would need to be gone through in the assessment of any formal proposal for the club premises.
