A brief history of Catholic education in Fremantle since 1864 with the Mercy Sisters' School in Henry St. On Thursday, 26th January 1882, the foundation stone of the Catholic Boys New School (Edmund Hall) in High St. was laid, and the school was officially opened on Wednesday 14th November 1883. The Christian Brothers arrived on January 29th 1901 to take over what had until then been St. Patrick's Boys School.
