Part of the building has for some time been used by an amateur drama group, the Harbour Theatre. It was the Harbour Theatre who were responsible for the submission made to the Department of Urban and Regional Development for a National Estate grant to assist in a study of the feasibility of restoring the building and converting it for permanent use as a theatre.
