Corporate AuthorMackie Martin & Associates Pty LtdDescriptionThe South Fremantle Tipsite was used as a domestic and industrial refuse landfill from the early 1930's until mid-1986. During that time a wide variety of materials were buried in three separate areas that comprise the tipsite - Hollis Park, Daly Street, and Sandown Park. The southern section of Sandown Park has now been developed into a caravan and chalet park but the remainder of the tipsite is undeveloped. Environmental management of the tipsite was addressed in a Management Plan prepared in 1991 by the Environmental Health Department of the city of Fremantle. This document reports on the first stages of the proposed work to ascertain the nature and extent of contamination associated with the site. This report describes the investigations of soil-gas methane concentrations across the site, a hydrogeological survey of the tipsite to establish the aquifer type and permeability, depth of the watertable, and gradient across the watertable, and groundwater monitoring to determine the location and migration patterns of contaminants on and off siteImprintNedlands, W.A.
