Tally of time spent inspecting at the bond store. The diary entries, made between mid-August 1888 and mid-August 1890, sum up Walter's activities on a daily basis: time at the bond store, trips to Beaconsfield (quarry, garden work), visits to friends, races (horses, boats), swimming at the beach. The garden in Beaconsfield seems to be Walter's main concern. Through his brief entries, we learn about what he grows, how he tends the plants, how affected he is when there is no rain.
