It is named for Queen Adelaide, consort of William IV. In 1885 Lot 332 had a five room house which was owned/occupied by David B Francisco, an auctioneer. In 1887 a house and two shops appear on the Lot and are owned by Francisco. In 1890 and 1895 the Fremantle rate books record a dwelling/surgery on the Lot. The owner was the Estate of D B Francisco and the occupant was Dr Alfred White, a surgeon. By 1900 ownership had changed to Robert Thomson Robinson and the occupants were Cooper & Legge Cycle Agents and the Fremantle Road Board. The owner/occupiers were the same in 1905/06. By 1910/11 ownership had changed to Walter Fisher Beard and the occupants were Phillip Bennett and William Burnside who traded as Bennett & Burnside, greengrocers, provision merchants and importers. Bennett & Burnside occupied the premises until the early 1930s and by 1925/26 were also the owners. From circa 1935/36 to at least 1951/52 the owner/occupiers were Freecorns Ltd, a greengrocers. The building was originally numbered 21 - 23 Adelaide Street and was assigned the current numbers in the mid 1930s. On the 5 November 1984 Katies opened in the building and traded there until early 1999. Number 30 was occupied by Dick Smith electronics in 2008. A Heritage Assessment was prepared in Aug 2009 by Philip Griffiths Architects for a DA submission to Council (DA0389/09) for proposed signage changes and the external repainting of the upper floor.Physical DescriptionTwo storey rendered and parapeted building which has a bracketed detail to the first floor. The ground floor windows and awnings are not original. Woodson's arcade is situated on the south side.
