The house was built after 1908 as it is not shown on the sewerage plan of that year. It is first listed in the Post Office Directories in 1916 and the occupant was John Sheridan. The cottages at 23 to 31 Alma Street were all built in the same year. A photograph of the house taken c. 1980 shows that the house was in good condition. The roof was corrugated iron and the walls were rendered. The front verandah was partially enclosed with louvres and brick. A cyclone mesh fence is located on the front boundary and a timber garage was located in the back of the property. Physical Description27 Alma Street is a single storey, rendered brick and iron house with an asymmetrical facade designed as a simple example of the Federation Bungalow style of architecture.
