Awning and shop fronts are not significant.ArchaeologyConditionFair.HistoryElder Place was originally named Bay St, derived from the street encircling Shoal Bay on the north of Willis/Ferry Point. The Council renamed a portion of the street Elder Place in 1926, after the company Elder, Smith & Co who had a warehouse in the street. Lot 230 Elder Place (formerly Bay St) originally comprised three cottages built 1889 for John Lewis, as 6-12 Bay St. No. 10 was demolished 1907 and replaced by offices and a warehouse for Horrocks & Wadham. Nos. 6 and 8 became shops c1913. The original cottage verandahs were removed and new facades were added around this time. No. 8 was a bike shop from 1920-1971 owned by the Legg family. Later businesses included Pelle's West End restaurant, pawnbrokers, adult book and video store, amusement centre. Shop front renovations occurred in 1984, as well as internal changes. In 2002, no. 8 is Port Realty-Real Estate Agent. Physical DescriptionSingle storey rendered masonry building with simple parapet with a corrugated iron hipped roofed building, with a veranda awning (probably not original). No. 6 is similar; a driveway entrance separates the buildings, which have a zero setback from the pavement.
