A house at 81 Ellen Street was built in 1901/02 for Caroline Carrick. The first occupant was Thomas James Carrick. In the late 2010s the property was subdivided and renumbered. The historic house was numbered 81A Ellen Street and the newly created block was numbered 81 Ellen Street. In 2018 a new two storey house was constructed at 81 Ellen Street. In 2019 the heritage listing for 81 and 81A Ellen Street were reviewed as part of the Annual Update of The Heritage List and Local Heritage Survey. On 25 June 2019 Fremantle Council resolved to add 81A to the Heritage List and to delete 81 Ellen Street.
