The place contributes to a substantially intact late nineteenth and early twentieth century streetscape close to the centre of Fremantle.ArchaeologyConditionHistoryEllen Street was named for Ellen Mangles of Woodbridge, Surrey, England, wife of Sir James Stirling, the Governor. Built in 1900 for Charles Tuckey; the first occupant was John O'Reilly, a lumper. Physical DescriptionSingle storey tuck pointed stone house has tuck pointed brick quoining to window and door openings and the bay which is to the east of the facade. There is a parapet wall with a decorative figurehead to the eastern elevation. The zincalume hipped roof has a gabble with decorative timber barge boards and two rendered chimneys with corbelling.
