Lot 976 was vacant until 1924 when rates began to be collected by the owner/occupier of a residence Mrs Ethel B. Cant. She is listed in Post Office Directories as the resident until 1949, when records cease. The house was originally number 90, and became number 19 when the whole street was renumbered in 1939. The 1947 aerial photo (Landgate) shows a small house to the west side of a large lot. Later aerials show that the lot was subdivided c2010 and another house built on the east side (19B). The original house is now No. 19A Forrest Street.Physical DescriptionHouse 19A Forrest Street is a single storey timber and iron house built in 1924 constructed with a symmetrical façade. The walls are timber framed and painted weatherboard in an ashlar effect. The roof is hipped and clad with Zincalume with a brick chimney with corbelling. The roof extends over the bull nose verandah (probably not original) at a broken pitch, and is supported by turned and chamfered timber posts between decorative brackets and balustrades. The façade is symmetrical with a central door with side lights and a stained leadlight glass fanlight, flanked by timber framed double hung sash windows. There is a timber picket front fence.AssociationPlace UseOriginal Use – RESIDENTIAL: Single storey residencePresent Use – RESIDENTIAL: Single storey residenceIntegrity/AuthenticityPlace TypeIndividual Building or Group
