The place contributes to a substantially intact late nineteenth and early twentieth century streetscape close to the centre of Fremantle.ArchaeologyConditionHistoryMalcolm Street was named for Sir Malcolm Fraser, the Commissioner of Lands and First Agent General for Western Australia in London (1892). Research via the Fremantle City Council rate books revealed the lot was developed in 1898 when Robert Russell became the owner of a cottage with four rooms. He was listed as the owner until the 1920-21 ratings period. Mr Charles Lucius Manning was the owner in 1927/28 and the cottage remained in the Manning family until 1952/56. Physical DescriptionSingle storey limestone and rendered quoining house has a terracotta tile (probably not original) hipped and half timbered gable roof and a rendered chimney with corbelling.
