The place has aesthetic value for its contribution to the streetscape and the surrounding area. It is representative of the typical building stock located within the residential areas of Fremantle. It is historically significant as a representation of typical workers' houses in the Fremantle area. ArchaeologyConditionHistoryTwo dwellings were built on the property in 1898. This house was owned and occupied by Walter Ernst Luyer, a member of the Australian Pharmaceutical Society. The Luyer remained in Fremantle until c.1915, when the family moved to Claremont. The house was divided into to two flats in the 1960s, but has subsequently been restored to a single dwelling c.1974. This place was shortlisted for the Fremantle Award in 1996 in the Heritage Category. Physical DescriptionSingle storey stone house with brick quoining to window and door openings and a zincalume hipped roof. A bull nosed verandah returns down both sides and is supported by chamfered timber posts. The original house has undergone alterations and has additions at the rear.
